Ellen is an Independent International Arbitrator and the Managing Partner of Bannerman-Quist Legal Consult& Notary in Ghana. Prior to setting up the firm, she worked in the International Law Division of the Ministry of Justice as a state attorney for 6years and subsequently with the Legal Department of the Volta River Authority in Ghana for 18 years, where she held the position of Director of Legal Services from August 2016 to April 2021. Having worked as a lawyer in the energy market since 2002, Ellen has developed a niche experience which makes her one of the leading lawyers in the field in Ghana. She brings this wealth of experience involving power generation, construction, energy matters including oil and gas and corporate law generally to her current role as an independent international arbitrator. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a member of many leading international organisations in the field of arbitration, including but not limited to the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the African Arbitrators Association, the Arbitration and Mediation Sub Committee of the International Bar Association, the Arbitration and Mediation Committees of the American Bar Association and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the New York State Bar Association. She is listed as an arbitrator on the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and is an Advisory Board Member of the International Energy Institute and the International Transnational Arbitration of the Centre for American and International Law, in Texas, USA. She is also listed on the Panel of Arbitrators on the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and also on the Panel of Arbitrators for the African Arbitration Association, amongst others   She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1993 and is also a member of the Ghana Bar Association. She holds a Diploma in International Martime Arbitration and a Diploma in Commercial Maritime Arbitration, both from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, U.K.,together with other qualifications awarded by various universities.
