DELOS DAMAGES MOOC

Do you want to learn or refresh on the basics of damages and valuation, in your own time?
Are you looking for an advanced understanding of damages issues or valuation approaches?
Would you like to test your understanding of these issues in private?

.

If so, then these courses are for you, whether you are a seasoned counsel or a budding junior, an experienced in-house counsel or a sophisticated arbitrator. The Damages MOOC comprises 5 introductory courses (open to all Delos members – you can sign up for free here), 6 advanced courses (reserved for Delos annual members), and a side course on working with Excel for lawyers (reserved for Delos monthly and annual members).

The massive open online course (MOOC) model means you can sign up and learn in your own time, self-test with specially designed multiple-choice questions at the end of each course, and repeat courses as many times as you would like, at any time. Each course combines substantive content with exercises, case studies and/or a work-through of examples. There is also a glossary, with harmonised definitions across all courses.

Finally, you can get your learning recognised by taking a quiz to test your understanding of the introductory level courses (here), and of the advanced level courses (here). If you achieve 60% correct answers or more, you will obtain a certificate of completion; otherwise, you can retake the quiz after two weeks, and refresh your understanding in the meantime. There is no limit to how many times you can retake a quiz.

The courses are taught by leaders in the field, and the faculty is chaired by Roula Harfouche (Independent Expert, London) and James Nicholson (FTI Consulting, Singapore). They further introduce the Damages MOOC in the first course below.

In time, we will be adding more courses, notably on the legal principles applicable to damages and valuation issues.

We hope you will enjoy this offering and get a lot out of it. If you have questions or feedback, you can reach us at damages-mooc@delosdr.org.
