Marc is a leading independent arbitrator with over 30 years of experience in high-value and complex commercial disputes, particularly relating to life sciences, chemistry, medical devices technology, telecommunications, intellectual property and patents. Prior to sitting as arbitrator, Marc practiced as counsel in patent litigation for over 30 years, meaning he has particular experience in disputes involving patents, misappropriation of trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights. Marc has sat as arbitrator and counsel under a broad range of arbitral rules including; ICC, UNCITRAL, HKIAC, FAA, and AdHoc. These disputes have related to a wide array of contract types including, inter alia, OEM agreements, EPC contracts, industrial construction contracts, distribution agreements, license agreements, joint development agreements, and research agreements. These have been seated in a variety of jurisdictions including, but not limited to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and New York. He has experience in arbitration conducted under common law and civil law regimens. He has experience handling matters involving a broad range of technology areas including, inter alia:   • Life sciences, in vitro diagnostics (IVD), recombinant DNA, antibodies, biotechnology, molecular biology, protein engineering, nucleic acid amplification (PCR, LAMP, isothermal), reverse transcriptase, DNA polymerases, enzymes, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, biologics, food processing, food additives, aseptic packaging; fermentation, biosensors, mutagenesis, arrays, lab-on-a-chip, ELISA, lateral flow, bio-separation, endonucleases, exonucleases, HPV, iRNA, cancer screening, microfluidics, herbicides (glyphosates), GMO; • Organic chemistry, organometallics, catalysis, zeolites, industrial chemistry, chemical processes, chemical engineering, plant design and construction, safe-solvent photoresist, hydrofluorocarbons (HFC), water chemistry, hydrogen generation, polysilicon; • Electrical and mechanical engineering, semiconductors, robotics, scientific / lab equipment, smart TV, consumer electronics, optics, ASICs, GPS, scanners, RFID, ATMs; • Computers, internet, networking, wireless technologies, signal packaging and processing, software, telecommunications, video games, gaming technologies, holography, cryptocurrency, blockchain; and • Printers (laser, led, inkjet, impact), scanners, copiers, facsimile, and related technologies (e.g., toner, ink). Marc is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Florida International University in Miami. He also regularly publishes articles and blogs on international arbitration. Marc is a member of the Chartered institute of Arbitrators, and panel member of several leading institutions including AIAC, ICDR, THAC and WIPO.
