ABOUT THE GAP AND THE SPEAKERS

Laurie Achtouk-Spivak is a Cleary Gottlieb partnerand co-leads the firm’s international arbitration practice in Paris. She has over 15 years of experience in handling the most high stake international arbitration matters. Laurie also has experience acting as an arbitrator and is a CEDR-accredited mediator. Laurie has significant experience in representing clients in arbitrations in a wide range of industry sectors, including energy and natural resources, infrastructure projects, financial services, and life sciences. Laurie is a thought leader in her field, being widely published on international arbitration and international investment law. She also takes part in the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, as well as the ICC Task Force on “Addressing Issues of Corruption in International Arbitration.” She is a member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law, ArbitralWomen, ILA, CFA, and ICCA. She is on the board of the French branch of the International Law Association.

Samantha Nataf is a partner at De Gaulle Fleurance, based in Paris. She focuses her practice on international arbitration and related court proceedings, and has served as counsel or arbitrator in numerous international arbitration proceedings, both commercial and investor-state, taking place under the major arbitration rules. She is a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and the French and Swiss Arbitration Associations.

Pedro Martini is a senior associate in the Sao Paulo office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. His practice focuses on arbitration, litigation, and investigation matters, involving complex, cross-border issues. He has experience in a variety of arbitration disputes administered by international and Brazilian institutions. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is admitted in New York and Brazil.

Giulio Palermo is a partner at Archipel Law Firm, based in Geneva. He is an arbitration specialist qualified in Switzerland, Italy and Spain, with over 15 years of experience in English, Spanish, Italian and French international arbitrations administered by all major institutions. He acts as both counsel and arbitrator in disputes across a range of sectors and is also a CEDR-accredited mediator.

Robert Reyes Landicho is counsel in Vinson & Elkins’ Dubai office. His practice focuses on international energy and infrastructure disputes, including commercial arbitration, inter-state arbitration, investor-state arbitration and national court litigation. He has experience acting in arbitrations under all the major institutional rules and also provides advice on related matters. He is admitted in Texas and has full rights of audience before the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts.
